Deemed to Satisfy (DtS) provisions for external walls

❌-NCC cl C1.9(d) and C1.9(e) does not exempt render and requires it to qualify as non-combustible under cl C1.14(a).
❌-NCC cl C1.10 and sub-paragraphs not relevant for external wall coatings.
✅-NCC cl C1.14(l) only exempts paint and similar finishes including textured paint and primers.

Performance Solution for external walls

✅ Must be prepared by a suitably qualified fire engineer and the coating system must have large scale AS5113 & BS8414 fire tests conducted by accredited NATA test facilities.

AS 5146.3:2015, Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Part 3: Construction.

Section-2.8.4 External coatings
When used to provide weatherproofing in accordance with the NCC requirements or durability
in accordance with Table 2.5(A), external coating systems shall—
(a) be water-resistant;
(b) be vapour-permeable;
(c) be capable of bridging up to a 1 mm crack in the substrate; and
(d) consist of a base levelling coat, and texture and finish coats.

1-Required Base levelling Coat.

2-Required Texture Coating.
✅-Armatex Texture Coatings-Trowel or Roll On Range. Compliant to AS 5146.3:2015 and are exempt under clause C1.14(l) for NCC non-combustibility provisions.
3-Required External Coatings.
✅-Astec Energy Star Dirtguard IR Elastic Low Sheen Elastomeric Wall Coating is compliant to AS 5146.3:2015 and exceeds standard requirement to bridge a minimum 1.0 mm crack.  Exempt under clause C1.14(l) for NCC non-combustibility provisions.  Tested at NATA approved test facilities.

Astec Energy Star Dirtguard IR Elastic Low Sheen Elastomeric Wall Coating is Tested to-AS 4548 Guide to long-life coatings for concrete and masonry.
